It's official!

Don't you wish you could wake up this happy every morning? This is how he is when we go and get him out of bed first thing in the morning!

Sam's pediatrician appointment yesterday confirmed it...he's a big boy and he's perfect! Sam weighed in at 12 lbs 6 ounces and measured 24 inches. This puts him in the 75-90th percentile for height and weight. He is only in the 25th percentile for height to weight ratio, but this is good because it means he's slender. His head is still in the 95th percentile in size. The first nurse took the measurement as 24 cm, but another nurse came back in to re-measure because she didn't believe it and he was only 23.5 cm:) He was all smiles for Dr. Bubba (who we love). He only cried for a second when he got his shots and I think this was more from the shock of getting his leg pricked. Once we were done, we gave him from baby Tylenol and he was his normal, playful self until around 3 when he got really sleepy. It was an early (even earlier than normal) night at the Kremser house, but Sam's back to his jolly little self today.

Sam got a chance to visit with his cousins, Miles and Audrey, on Sunday. We went to Mimi's for dinner and Sam played on his mat while Audrey mothered him and Miles played on the iPad. I was a little worried that Miles and Audrey might feel neglected because I normally pay a lot of attention to them, but Mimi held Sam while we all played hide and seek. Miles only told me to put Sammie down a couple of times and that was to play an ipad game that quickly got taken away from me. We also got a chance to take Audrey and Miles to the Germantown pool on Monday afternoon and had a great time. It was nice to be out in the sun for a while!

If Sam ever looks back at this, I thought he should probably know that he has a mom (just one who doesn't like being in pictures, especially now)

Audrey wanted to be in the picture too...we're just missing Miles (he was engrossed in the ipad game).

Look who's 2 (months)!

I can't believe he's two months old already. This guy has really started playing in the last couple of weeks! He has also started reaching and attempting to grab his toys. At the beginning of this week, he was concentrating really hard to grab one of his toys hanging from his activity mat, but he definitely has the hang of it now. He also loves staring and making faces at himself in the mirror. He still loves to make faces at us and is making all sorts of cute noises.

His schedule has been a little off this week because of some field trips that we made in the late afternoon when he normally takes a longer nap, but we will get back into the swing of things next week. He still wakes up every morning with a huge smile on his face as he wiggles out of his swaddle (if he hasn't already wiggled out of it during the night:)).

Next week, we have Sam's two-month doctor's appointment and Audrey and Miles are coming to town. Kyle is taking a couple of days off so we don't have to brave the first round of immunizations on our own. I'm not looking forward to the shots, but I am interested to see how big Mr. Sam is. He is already wearing 3-6 month clothes...he might need to slow down or he's going to be wearing some Christmas outfits in September!!

So happy that he's grabbed his little friend!

Very impressed with himself in the mirror

Ok, these guys can go away now. I think this one is lost and he was out during the day time, which probably makes him crazy.

Happy little guy in his favorite place!

He loves to stick his hands straight up in the air and stare at his fists. This is a post-bath time shot.

More fun on the mat!

Can this guy get any cuter?

This will just be a quick update and lots of pictures from Sam's sixth week! He still loves playing on the floor on one of his activity mats. He's a dancing fool (I will try to upload a video, but it wasn't playing well on our computer). This past week he started grabbing things like these little rings that are all different colors and textures, the toys on the mat, sophie the giraffe, hair, etc. Right now the grabbing seems to be an accident and he usually surprises himself when things end up in his hand. Sometimes the things get launched at me and he seems to have a good arm!!

He loves to take his bath every night and we kind of have a nighttime routine that we like to follow...bath, book, bottle, and bed. He sleeps like a champ most nights, but really only takes power naps during the day. Last week he was sleeping from around 9:00-9:30 at night to 3:30-4:30 in the morning and then going back to sleep until around 7:30, but last night he slept from 9:30 until 5:30am straight. He was wide-eyed at 5:30 and raring to get the day started, but it was nice to get that many hours of sleep in a row. He took a good nap this afternoon, but hopefully we can repeat this tonight!

Here are some pictures from the last week.

I'm having trouble posting the video, but I will try in another post. We are looking forward to see what Sam does this week!

Sam vs the Swaddle

Sam is 5 weeks old (or he was when I started writing this...now he is almost six weeks old)! Over the last week, he has definitely become opinionated about certain things. When we swaddle him at night, he spends at least five minutes before he dozes off trying to break out of the blanket. Luckily, we have a cheat swaddle with Velcro that he doesn't beat very often. I have given up swaddling him for naps...mainly because he has decided that naps aren't really his style during the day. He usually dozes off for twenty minutes here and there in the morning and then takes a longer nap during the afternoon.

This is the way he likes to sleep...not really possible in the swaddle.
Happy boy!

I've started to put him down to sleep before he's completely out so that he gets used to soothing himself to sleep. I sit in the rocker while he looks all around and makes cooing noises. It's a little hard to resist picking him up and playing when he's doing this because it's so darn cute! There are also plenty of grunts while he tries to break out of his straight jacket swaddle. He makes the cutest humming noise when he finally goes to sleep. No worries about checking to see if this baby is breathing because he's even noisy in his sleep so we hear everything through the monitor.

He also loves his activity mats even though he doesn't actually play with the toys on the mats. Both the upstairs and downstairs mats play music and he loves music!! He also loves to dance! When I put him on the mat and start the music, he starts stomping his foot (classic white boy dance). He prefers pop music to any other because I think he likes the fast beat. He really gets his leg going when he's grooving to some bad pop music. He makes the cutest noises while he is playing...mostly little coo's, but he also throws a little clicking noise in sometimes. He also loves to stick his tongue out at whoever is holding him!

Sam is getting so big! We had to retire his newborn clothes today as well as his newborn diapers. We are finally in the size 1 diapers that I thought we had too many of until we started going through about 30 diapers a day. (We got about 1,000 of the size 1 diapers at different baby showers, but this will probably only last through the end of July!) We can go through 3-4 diapers in one changing...Kyle and I are not the best at timing it. We also change his outfit at least three times a day, but more like 4 or 5. He is a very messy eater. (I also change my outfit about as many times, which is not good considering I only have three outfits that fit me! I have now been released by the doctor to exercise so hopefully I can get back into some of my other clothes soon.)

Last Thursday, I left Sam for the first time with my mom while I went and got a much needed hair cut. Mimi and PawPaw Don kept Sam on Friday night while Kyle and I went to dinner and a wedding shower. I don't think Sam even missed us with all the attention from his grandparents!

Sam got a baby pool today since he likes his baths so much. He also got a long-sleeved SPF 50 shirt, bathing suit, and a hat that my Mom found in Savannah (a little too big, but he will love it later because it has a train on it...we couldn't get it to sit the right way on his head). About $100, later, we spent a good twenty minutes in the pool! He liked it and I think he just liked being outside in general, but he was ready for a nap by the time it was shady enough to get in the pool.
We got a new camera courtesy of Grandpa, my dad, (I'm even getting confused with all of these grandfather names!) so I'm sure I will be taking lots more pictures now that I have a new toy!

One month

Sam turned one month old yesterday! He was not the most willing participant in these pictures because he had just woken up from a nap and was a little grumpy. He has gotten so big!
