Last beach day
Today was our last day on the beach and we are coming back to reality tomorrow. It has been such a good week hanging out with each other, but I'm afraid we might be bringing back one really spoiled one-year old. He has been eating waffles for breakfast each day and sleeping in bed with us at night. He starts in his pack-in-play, but something wakes him up at exactly the same time each night and he won't go back to sleep in the crib. He's a good little snuggler once he settles down!
He has had this hammer in his hand since he got it on his birthday. He wants it when he wakes up and he falls asleep with it at night. He takes it every where we go. Everything in this condo is glass, but luckily it's not as fragile as it looks because the hammer has definitely hit everything that we've seen.
View from the condo-beautiful weather all week!
Favorite spot on the beach-the water hose!
Chasing after some guys who were throwing Frisbee (with his trusty sidekick- the wooden hammer).
Kyle retrieving Sam when he tried to take the frisbee from the guys.
He loved this big grassy area at Seaside!

On Monday, Sam will start at a new daycare at a lady's house that came highly recommended to us by several people. We will really miss First Baptist, especially Ms. Von and Ms. Shamekia, however, we needed a day care closer to home and open year-round. I'm very nervous for him to start somewhere new since he loved his teachers so much, but he knows one person there and he has already visited once. I think Ms. Pat makes pancakes for breakfast each day so I think he will like it!

First Birthday!
Sam woke up early to see the sun rise on his birthday and then had a pancake breakfast before going back to sleep for a little bit. We spent some time at the pool and squeezed in some pictures on the beach. So far the weather has been beautiful and we are having a great time. Sam's personality gets bigger each day!
Hanging out at the pool
He struggled with the sand at first, but he has the hang of it now!
These curtains have provided hours of fun!

First time at the Beach!
After an almost 11 hour road trip, we arrived at Seagrove Beach, Florida on Saturday afternoon. Sam was a champ for the car ride, but he barely slept (and we left at 5am) and he was really sick of the car by Saturday afternoon. As soon as we got here, we went straight to the beach....and Sam hated it! He wouldn't let his feet touch the sand and the water scared him to death.
Sunday was a little touch-and-go because Sam was still pretty tired, but we did make it to the beach for a little while. He still wasn't a huge fan, but stayed under the tent and played with his new sand bucket. We got to meet Kyle's cousins, John and Jolie, and spent most of Sunday afternoon with them. Sam had a great time seeing his (second?) cousins and got a yogurt treat for being so good at lunch. He LOVES frozen yogurt!
On Memorial Day, we spent most of the day outside and he finally started liking the sand! He's still not a huge fan of the water, but he figured out how to walk on the sand so I think he will work his way up to the water. We went to a little Mexican restaurant tonight that had a fountain in the front and he put his whole head in the water. When we got back to the condo, he played hide-and-seek for a little while even though he never left his hiding spot and he had a large broom sticking out of the curtain. He also "took care of some business" while he was hiding. The sun zaps all of his energy and he was asleep by 7. We are looking forward to the rest of our week on the beach!
